Planning a Christmas Party

It’s been a busy couple of weeks here at McNemar House.  Our annual Christmas Party date has been set (it’s going to be a blast so grab your free tickets while they are still available), so we’ve begun the party planning process.  I’m super excited about this year’s party because not only are we featuring live Christmas music by Kiara Williams and Adam Moyer, but we are also going to be exhibiting a collection of sculptures by artist Andrew Thorne.

Andy dropped off the pieces this past weekend, and She-Ra was very suspicious of the Mountaineer.  She wouldn’t take her eyes off of him for nearly an hour, feathers on end the entire time ready to defend herself should he pull his knife.  I think this confirms the fact that the sculpture is extremely realistic.  Bahaha.

I spent a couple of days last week putting together and ordering the exhibit brochures which I think turned out nicely.  This week we’re compiling the materials list for the pedestal that will be constructed to display the Mountaineer sculpture, and next week we hope to get it built. In all we’ll be exhibiting seven of Andy’s incredible pieces.  I’m so excited for everyone to come to the Christmas party to see them and meet Andy, who will be here to talk about his work with anyone who wants to chat.  It’s going to be a great time!

Let’s not forget the food, too!  One of my favorite chefs is Thomas Keller who is the owner of a very famous restaurant in California called The French Laundry.  Many of Keller’s recipes are not for the faint of heart when it comes to preparation, but one bite will make you realize that all of the work is totally worth it!  My favorite Keller cookbook is The French Laundry Cookbook, but I also love his confectionery cookbook Bouchon Bakery which contains recipes from his bakery of the same name.  We’ll be featuring several Thomas Keller dishes at the party, so come hungry!

Don’t forget to come prepared for a photo or two as well!  The backdrop for the photo booth arrived this week, and we’re excited to get it up and try it out!  We’ve got our work cut out for us for sure, but things are coming along nicely, and we can’t wait to see all of you here for this year’s Christmas Party!
