Heather McNemar: Amateur Real Estate Photographer

This weekend I ventured out to Belington, West Virginia to visit my aunt who is selling her lovely home.  Let me preface this entire post with: I’m not a real estate photographer.  I wanted to do as good of a job as I could documenting the place though so I could share it with everyone.  So much work has been poured into this place over the last few years, and it’s going to make someone a very nice home.

My aunt keeps quite possibly the cleanest house of anyone I’ve ever met.  She used to rent our old apartment from us, and I always joked that she kept it cleaner than we did when we lived there ourselves, but it’s true.  Her Belington home is no different.  It’s been well-kept during her tenure there.  She’s also remodeled nearly the entire home with the help of my father, mother, and friends.

Part of the remodeling project included adding a full bathroom in the basement, giving the home two full baths now.  Both baths have tub/shower combos.

The home’s three well-appointed bedrooms have spacious closets and nice windows to let the light in.  The carpet in these rooms and throughout the entire house is immaculate.

The living room is perhaps the brightest room in the house, offering an open and cheery place to relax.  Neutral wall and carpet colors will make it easy for the new owner to add their own personal touches to the space.

The entry is incredibly welcoming and provides access to the main floor as well as the walkout basement.

The home boasts 800 square feet on the main level and 800 square feet in the basement.  It sits on two city lots and has a large backyard.  It is heated with electric baseboard heat, although there is a chimney for a wood stove.  My aunt has not used it, so it would need to be inspected before use.  There are also two window air conditioners that go with the home for summer cooling.

My favorite part of the remodel though is definitely the kitchen.  My father removed all of the cabinets, professionally painted them, and reinstalled them one by one.  The kitchen is now so bright and airy.  There is a new stainless steel range, microwave, and refrigerator as well.  While the kitchen is admittedly small as far as counter space goes, it’s well laid out, open to the dining room, the counter tops are tiled, and the space is extremely functional even for the serious chef.
